Maya is the animation and visual effects standard in film, television and games: character rigging, keyframe and procedural animation, cloth and hair simulation, and rendering through Arnold.

Its depth is also its cost — pipelines are built around it with substantial in-house tooling, which makes it very sticky once adopted. Studios evaluating it should budget for pipeline development alongside the licences.
